If I want to apply for several jobs, should I apply several times using the online application form?

No, please only apply once (for a specific position or initiative). As soon as you have successfully completed our selection process, you can view all current vacancies and then let us know which other partner companies and vacancies you are interested in.

Do I need a cover letter?

No, we do not need a cover letter. However, if you would like to write one, please describe your motivation or tell us why a specific position or specialist area is particularly suitable for you.

Do I have to apply to SAPHIR and to the companies?

No, the advantage of our talent pool is that you only have to apply to the companies via our application portal. This saves time and increases your chances of getting in touch with several exciting companies.

Is there a deadline for applications?

Our partner companies are usually looking for a new team member immediately. However, you can apply to us at any time, as it is possible to start at the companies on the 1st and 15th of each month. We are always receiving comparable new positions, so please feel free to apply now, even if you are only available at a later date.

When is the best time to apply?

You can apply at any time. Most positions at the partner companies are immediately available. The best time to apply is approx. 3 months before the desired start date - so you have enough time to find a suitable partner company.

For applicants with a college or university degree from China, Vietnam and India: Certificate from the Academic Evaluation Center (APS) - further information can be found here or in the following question.

What is the Academic Evaluation Center (APS) certificate?

The APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) is a cooperation between the German Embassy and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Its main task is to check the authenticity of university or college certificates submitted from China, Vietnam and India. Applicants with documents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan do not require a certificate from the Academic Evaluation Center.

If the result is positive, a certificate will be issued confirming that the documents submitted are genuine and that the academic achievements are sufficient for studying at a German university. It is only possible to apply for a study visa in Germany once this certificate has been issued. The application for such a certificate can take up to 60 days.

An APS certificate is not required if you have obtained your higher education entrance qualification (school-leaving certificate) outside of China, Vietnam or India.

The certificate must already be submitted with your application for the SIBE Master's programs, otherwise our application and selection process can not continue.

You can find detailed information on applying for the certificate from the Academic Evaluation Center (APS) here:

Why do I need the university entrance qualification, I have a bachelor’s certificate?

Due to legal regulations on admission, we are obliged to check your university entrance qualification.

Selection process

I have already been accepted by a company. Do I still have to go through the SAPHIR selection process?

Yes, you always have to go through the SAPHIR selection process. Although the company confirmation is an important first step towards starting your studies, passing our selection process is always mandatory. You will receive all further information on this after submitting your application.

What are the individual steps of the selection process?

  1. Online application
  2. Review of your documents (feedback within 5 working days)
  3. If your documents are reviewed positively: Individual interview via MS Teams in English
  4. KODE® competence assessment (online) and follow-up in the SAPHIR application portal
  5. If the feedback is positive: Acceptance in the talent pool

What tasks can I expect during the selection process? How can I prepare myself?

Prepare as you would for a normal job interview. In addition to your academic achievements and your career to date, we will focus on your overall performance, skills, and motivation.

How does the interview take place?

The interview takes place online via Microsoft Teams.

In which language does the interview take place?

Our interviews are generally conducted in German. Of course, it is also possible for our international applicants to complete the interview and KODE® assessment in English.

What if I am ill or otherwise unable to attend before the interview?

No problem, just get in touch with your contact person - in this case, an alternative appointment can be arranged quickly.

When and where does the interview take place?

One of our recruiters will contact you to arrange an appointment for the online interview via MS Teams. Of course, we can also take your availability into account here.

How long does the selection process take?

Please schedule approx. 30-45 minutes for the interview. Afterwards, you will need to complete our KODE assessment and other important information in the application portal. Please plan another 45 minutes for this.

The follow-up does not have to be done immediately after the interview. You have 24 hours after the interview to do this.

What happens if the position has already been filled by the time, I have passed the selection process?

In that case, we can unfortunately no longer consider your application for this position. However, we have many open vacancies and new ones are added daily. As soon as you have been accepted into our talent pool, we can forward your documents directly to the new positions at our partner companies and actively support you in your search for a partner company.

What happens if I don’t pass the selection process?

Please do not see this as a devaluation of your skills and knowledge. Currently, only around 20% make it into our talent pool. In this case, you are welcome to reapply after 6 months. You will also receive our KODE® evaluation, with which you can work on your skills.

What happens if I successfully pass the selection process?

In this case, you will be included in our talent pool. Here you now can apply for all our open vacancies.

KODE® self-assessment

What is KODE?

KODE® is a questionnaire and measures competence levels under normal and difficult conditions, therefore it is not a personality test. The results give you the opportunity to reflect on your strengths and also to record the less pronounced competencies and derive optimization potential. There is no right or wrong, but merely an opportunity to analyze your own competencies and potential for optimization.

How does KODE work?

The KODE® questionnaire contains 24 incomplete sentences, each of which must be completed with 4 possible answers. These answers must be ranked with numbers - so each number can only be assigned once (from "4 - most true" to "1- least true").

It usually takes about 20 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

Acceptance into the talent pool

What happens after I have been accepted into the talent pool?

As soon as you have been accepted into the talent pool, we will support you in finding a partner company. We will arrange a separate appointment with you to explain everything in more detail. During this meeting, we can also discuss your CV in more detail and optimize it if necessary, to make it even more attractive to companies.

Who do I contact if I have questions during my time in the talent pool?

During your time in the talent pool, you will have your own contact person - you can contact them at any time with all your questions and concerns. Of course, you can also get in touch with any other SAPHIR contact person.

I have questions about a specific position, who should I contact?

You are welcome to address your questions to your personal contact person. Alternatively, you can also contact the job supervisor. You can find the contact details in the respective job advertisement.

How long can I stay in the SAPHIR talent pool?

Once you have been accepted into our talent pool, you can remain an active member until you have found a suitable company for your studies. If you wish, you can also take a break in between – that is completely up to you!

Is the time in the SAPHIR talent pool associated with costs?

No, there are no costs associated with your time in the SAPHIR talent pool. Both the coaching after a possible admission to our talent pool and, for example, the offer to take a KODE consultation (30-minute discussion of the KODE self-assessment, which is part of the selection process) are 100% free of charge.

Partner companies

How do I find a partner company?

You have the following options to find a partner company:

  • You apply for current job positions from our partner companies:
  • A partner company becomes aware of your profile in our talent catalog. After successfully completing our selection process, all new talents in our pool are presented to our company network with an anonymized short profile.

You take advantage of our coaching offer. SAPHIR (Verlinkung zu can help you to convince your dream employer to cooperate with SIBE.

When will my documents be forwarded to the company?

As soon as you are in our talent pool, your documents will be forwarded to the companies whose positions you are interested in and your profile matches.

The talent catalog is another way to find a partner company. During the selection process, you can fill out your talent catalog profile. Here you enter all important academic and professional experience etc.

Every around 2 months we then publish a talent catalog, that includes all those profiles in an anonymous version. Our partner companies then hopefully get aware of your profile and would like to get to know you.

Can I also start my studies at my own company?

Sure, that's no problem. Just talk to us so that we can give you all the information you need.

Are there also jobs abroad?

Yes, we have already had vacancies in e.g. England, Austria, Switzerland, or Mexico. A partner company from abroad is always possible.

What jobs are available in my area?

To see what jobs we have in your area, please use the filter options (city / region / zip code or within a radius of) in our job portal:

How many hours per week do I have to work in the company?

The weekly working hours are different and depend on the partner company - usually students need to work between 35 and 40 hours/week.

How does the financing work? Do I get a salary?

Your partner company usually supports you by paying the program fees (€1,160/month plus VAT) and travel costs for face-to-face seminars. You pay €350/month in tuition fees, which you can claim as a tax deduction.

In addition, you will receive a salary - the exact amount will be determined individually by your partner company and depends on the specific framework conditions (e.g. your profile, weekly working hours, vacation, benefits, etc.). You can ask us for details at any time!
